Leadership in Technology puts Health & Safety first
Heavy work like chiseling demands powerful tools. The user, however, can suffer the effects of the resulting vibration such as Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS). All employers should be aware of the heath related risks caused by high levels of vibration. Vibration protection is an investment in your
employees' health and ability to work.
Protect your staff, protect yourself!
Excessive or continuous exposure to high levels of vibration can lead to Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS).
Some symptoms of HAVS are:
- Numbness or tingling sensations in the fingers
- Reduced dexterity and pain in the fingers and joints
- Blanching or whitening of one or more fingers
The most common form of Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS) is known as Vibration White Finger. Vibration White Finger is also one of the most commonly reported industrial diseases, and has led to many significant claims for compensation against employers.
Bosch first addressed the HAV Syndrome issue as early as 2001 with the introduction of "Vibration Control" handles for angle grinders. Since then Bosch SDS-Max hammer range has featured vibration reduction handles allowing the tools to generate the lowest vibration levels in their class.
